Catherine Najma Touaibi was born in Fribourg, Switzerland. She has been working for 25 years in communications and holds a diploma in public relations.
Najma has long felt a profound kinship with various spiritual traditions and actively promotes interfaith dialogue. She has dwelled in Zen monasteries in Japan and in Cistercian abbeys. More recently, she has been attracted by Islam and, particularly, by its mysticism. Najma wishes to remind us that Islam is, in its essence, a religion of peace, a tolerant and universal faith. Muslims believe in one God – the very same one as the Christian God. With this in mind, she strives to build bridges between East and West.
Najma finds her inspiration in the beauty of nature and in her own sweet garden. |
Books are her loyal companions, allowing her – to some extent – to quench her thirst for knowledge. Her main hobby is photography: "taking pictures has taught me really how to see." The photos on the website Nazr-e-Kaaba bear the signature of Najma Touaibi.
Meaningful encounters with Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, Pir Zia Inayat Khan, Naila Amat-un-Nur and Shaykh Khaled Bentounes have marked the life and the spiritual development of Najma Touaibi.
She now heads the group Ziraat at the Sufi Omega Center in Zurich, and is responsible for the activities of Ziraat in Switzerland.
